Hey there, it has been a while! I have been pretty MIA the past two months due to focused studying.
A year and a half of dedication to learning what I started. I always have been curious about cybersecurity but never found where could I learn them during 2018. It was me just playing Watch Dogs and that piqued my interest.
I never actually considered cybersecurity to be my main focus, because at the time I wanted to be a DevOps Engineer. A lot has happened, and honestly never expected to be back into this field. It went full circle on its own. It all started with binge learning the ISC2 CC Modules due to the course expiring after 1 week. I never expected to rush to learn something that fast XD. Then it shifted into me considering if I should go full on shift into cybersecurity knowing it’s gonna be a big gamble. Despite the big risk, I took the first step into the unknown with uncertainty of this pulling off.
Looking back on the journey now, I’m just amazed at what I was able to accomplish. Despite the setbacks that I felt, the Impostor Syndrome and self doubt, I never gave up even when sometimes it was a bit too much. I initially set my sights on the Certified Bug Bounty Hunter(now called Certified Web Exploitation Specialist), but then I decided to continue my self-studying and chase after the Certified Penetration Testing Specialist instead. This in the back of my head, I locked in. Though there was a time that I kind of lost my momentum but what matters is bouncing back from it. There were times that during vacation that I felt guilty that I wasn’t studying.
Then I bought the voucher for the exam. I was honestly hesitating but a friend of mine told me, “It’s now or never”. This exam challenged a lot from me it made me question a lot. It challenged a lot of the methodologies I had up until now. But what matters is that I persevered and finished it. I passed and at this moment I am still mindblown on the fact that I have finally gained it.
